Cybele Moon is a costume designer and fiber artist with a passion for using color, fabric and form to create characters for stage. Her costumes for dance complement and enhance each movement the choreographer has conceived.
As a costumer, she has designed for numerous theater and dance companies as well as universities and colleges in Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, Austin and New Orleans among other locations. In Chicago her creations were recognized with an After Dark Award, a Jefferson Award Nomination and two Community Arts Assistance Program Grants.
In the role of fiber artist and creative collaborator, Cybele Moon has exhibited her textile installations and small hand-stitched and dyed works of art in Chicago and Los Angeles. She has sold her wearable art in local galleries and on national markets.
Cybele is dedicated to teaching, mentoring, and inspiring students in the arts and is currently a Visiting Assistant Professor of Theater in Costume at Wesleyan University where she teaches and designs.
Previous academic positions include the School of Theatre and Dance at East Carolina University in North Carolina and Austin Community College. She also has taught young people of all ages and has been an instructor and/or guest lecturer for the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts), University of California at Los Angeles, University of Southern California, California State University San Marcos, and College for Creative Studies.
